Delivery Policy
The Delivery Policy is a part of the Terms. Please refer to the Terms for the complete terms and conditions: https://www.mfreddy.com/terms-and-conditions
Original artworks are one of a kind, and we take great care with deliveries. For orders to eligible locations, we offer free FedEx delivery, and free standard fine art courier service via Convelio for individual artworks over 1,500 GBP. Convelio is trusted by clients such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s. You may request delivery via our Standard Fine Art Courier Service or Bespoke Fine Art Courier Service at an additional cost. Please see below for more information.
General
Our online checkout only supports deliveries to the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, and countries within the European Union. Orders to these locations include complimentary delivery via FedEx, and complimentary Standard Fine Art Courier Service via Convelio with white glove delivery service for individual artworks over 1,500 GBP. In rare cases where shipping costs exceed our expectations due to destination or special handling, we may reach out to discuss an extra charge for delivery. You are, of course, welcome to accept the adjustment or cancel your order upon this notice. A signature is necessary to acknowledge receipt of the artworks. We may be able to deliver to locations not listed above. Please email MFreddy.Studio@gmail.com for assistance.
M. Freddy’s custom-made, original artworks are made for you with care, and this takes time. We aim to dispatch artworks within 2 weeks and no later than 30 days after full payment is received. Please let us know in the check out form if you have an urgent deadline for a special occasion; we will try our best to accommodate but there is no guarantee. Should any delays arise, we will inform you promptly. After the package has been dispatched, FedEx delivery typically takes 2-5 business days. Artworks delivered via our Standard Fine Art Courier Service by Convelio will take longer because they become oversized items once they are crated for protection. The Standard Fine Art Courier Service takes 15-25 business days. We are happy to identify express delivery options for you as part of the Bespoke Fine Art Courier Service, though that will incur additional costs.
All delivery services are subject to the couriers’ terms. Please be sure to review and understand your risks and responsibilities.
Import Taxes and Customs Duties
For orders delivered outside the U.K., you are responsible for import taxes, customs duties, and additional fees according to your country’s policy. These charges are beyond the Studio’s control.
Original paintings, drawings, and pastels executed entirely by hand under 100 years old are categorized under Harmonized Code (HS Code) 9701.91 (see latest information: https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/commodities/9701910000#).
Under the 1950 Agreement on the Importation of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Materials, a UNESCO treaty also known as the Florence Agreement, Article I stipulates that contracting states will not apply customs duties to cultural materials. Cultural materials in HS Code 9701.91 are exempt as per Annex B.i. We include a letter from the Studio on this commitment together with the delivery documents where possible, but any customs duties are decided by your country’s customs office.
The Florence Agreement does not prevent contracting states from levying taxes (such as import taxes or VAT) and fees other than customs duties. We attach a customs declaration on the parcel, stating its contents and value. You may estimate such fees using the following reference tool, though we cannot guarantee the tool’s accuracy: https://www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/
If you are uncertain of the applicable fees, please contact your country's customs office for more information before placing your order. We do not accept responsibility for additional fees or customs decisions, such as delays, seizure, or returns.
Should you encounter any problems with customs, please reach out to FedEx or your fine art courier with your tracking number. Do let us know as well via email MFreddy.Studio@gmail.com. We want the artwork to reach you smoothly and we will do what we can to assist.
Damage or loss
We are not responsible for the artworks’ damage or loss once they leave the studio. Fine art courier services will use their own crates and packaging in order to comply with their insurance requirements. For deliveries via FedEx, we package artworks meticulously with M. Freddy’s Signature Gift Packaging and we have various safeguards in place for deliveries:
We offer complimentary delivery via FedEx. They are generally quite reliable for domestic and international deliveries when customs are involved.
We declare the full value of the artwork and require a signature at time of delivery. These safeguards are covered by us, at no additional cost to you. Please be sure to review FedEx’s policy on declared value which is distinct from shipping insurance: https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/declared-value.html.
We deliver orders with a total value over 1,000 USD in several packages, as it is FedEx’s maximum declared value for each package containing artworks. We do not deliver artworks over 1,000 USD via FedEx. We price individual artworks accordingly so that collectors can enjoy the free Standard Fine Art Courier Service with white glove delivery available to individual artworks over 1,500 GBP.
We are happy to provide recommendations for framing, but we do not ship artworks with frames. This is because any broken glass from the frame in the event of damage will compromise the artwork. Glass alternatives such as plexiglass creates static, which will lift the pastel from the surface.
We use box-in-box packaging with a double-walled cardboard shell, home-compostable air pillows, and an archival interleaving layer to protect the artwork.
By placing an order, you agree that our delivery method and packaging meets a reasonable standard to protect artworks during transit. If you would like additional security and protection, please select the Standard or Bespoke Fine Art Courier Service service during checkout. We are happy to offer these for a premium.
While we cannot be held liable for recovering the costs of damage or loss, we will provide necessary information where we can, to assist with your claim against the courier. It is your responsibility to ensure that all address details are accurate and complete, both in your communications to us, as well as our and the courier’s communications to you. Deliveries to the wrong location will not be covered by the courier in the event of loss or damage. Please double check your address once you receive your order’s tracking information from the courier. If you notice any damage to the packaging, please take a video when you open the package as this will assist your claim.
Standard Fine Art Courier Service
For orders to eligible locations, we offer free Standard Fine Art Courier Service via Convelio for individual artworks over 1,500 GBP. They are trusted by clients such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s. If your order does not qualify at this time, we are happy to facilitate this at an added cost. Simply select the Standard Fine Art Courier Service option during checkout and we will be in touch to discuss further. This typically begins at 800 GBP.
The Standard Fine Art Courier Service includes the exclusive use of fine art handlers, wood crating, white glove delivery service, and the Convelio Ad Valorem insurance. We cannot provide insurance advice. By selecting the Standard Fine Art Courier Service via Convelio, you understand and agree to their insurance policy and their terms.
As the delivery date approaches, Convelio will reach out to you to discuss logistical details including scheduling and crate dimensions. The Standard Fine Art Courier Service does not include crane services if required. In the event the crate does not fit into your staircase or elevator, the couriers can uncrate at ground level and move the artwork to a room of your choice. Our wood panels typically weigh less than 1 kg for ease of transport and framing.
As part of the white glove delivery service, the courier will collect and remove the crate alongside any packaging materials before they depart.
Bespoke Fine Art Courier Service
We understand that original artworks are deeply personal. Express delivery, delivery via temperature controlled cargo, exclusive-use transportation, and other tailored features are available via our Bespoke Fine Art Courier Service at an additional cost. We recommend couriers with offices in Central London, such as Queen’s in Mayfair. Queen’s is the official Sustainable Shipping Partner for the Armory Show, and they work with galleries such as Victoria Miro and Massimo de Carlo. We are also happy to deliver via Crozier, Cadogan Tate, Momart, or other fine art couriers you have an existing relationship with. Simply select this option at checkout and we will be in touch to discuss further.
Please do not hesitate to reach out. Simply email MFreddy.studio@gmail.com and we will respond promptly.
